Drove by the new World Trade Center yesterday. These are just from the car window at a stop light. It is gigantic and by far the biggest building in manhattan (makes the Empire State look like nothing)…

It was a Sparks show, a Sparks show, a Sparks show (Two Nights)
THIS IS SUPER AWESOME. Did you recognize the former bassist?
I didn’t, but I just investigated, and it was definitely Sal Maida, who played on Big Beat (and possibly other stuff?)…
It was a Sparks show, a Sparks show, a Sparks show (Two Nights)
So me and Blake just finished our Sparks adventure. It started with a show in Philadelphia, which was completely awesome and we were like a couple feet from the stage. Tonight it ended with a show in New York, we were way farther back and it was packed and kind of hard to see. It was probably the weaker of the two shows anyway, but still very strong performance (it is Sparks). But nevermind the crowd, because after the show we got to briefly meet Ron Mael and Russell Mael. Oh yeah, and Blake did give them shirts of his illustration. Russell really liked the shirt, he was very thankful and nice all around actually. Ron was kind of weirder, but he is Ron Mael. He was wearing an overcoat and looked like he was about to take to the streets in “disguise” (it’s not working, Ron). They were both pretty tired after the show I think, and we almost didn’t get to meet them. Originally we and a few other people were actually going to get to go up to their dressing room or the green room or something, but in the end they came out for us and some others. So it ended up being more like going to a signing, but still awesome. I told Russell that me and Blake are engaged and probably wouldn’t have even known each other if not for Sparks, and he seemed to think that was cool (I’m sure he’s heard similar stories, but still). Ron scoffed at the idea that he has just kept getting better thru the years, but I stand by it. So yeah, it’s been a kind of amazing couple days, a full dose of Sparks to be sure. Best part is just travelling with Blake though, and that’s still happening, so…

Look how excited I am that they signed the Two Hands One Mouth picture disc. They totally did, not an hour before this was taken.
The lighting made this picture kind of awful, but look - it’s Blake, and a couple of other guys…
Bad news everyone :(
Sparks has been cancelled for the remainder of the Two Hands One Mouth tour. They’ve been replaced by their understudies Alpha Mael, who have been waiting over 40 years for this chance in the spotlight. When not on standby they are better known as The Naztee Grampazz, where they play 50/50 Sparks and Limp Bizkit covers. Luckily for THOM they will be playing ALL Sparks songs. It won’t be the same, but let’s give them all the support they need while Ron Mael rests in the hospital (where he is recovering from diarrhea)…
